Dr. Lara Fielding Psyd

BEHAVIORAL THERAPIST

Clinical psychologist, emphasizing the promotion of stress resilience and emotion regulation through mindfulness skills training.

Dr. Lara Fielding is a Harvard educated mindfulness-based clinical psychologist, who teaches clients skills to promote their own stress resilience and emotion regulation. Her therapy practice, writing and trainings emphasize the role of personal responsibility for self-care and concrete skills to maintain more balanced mood. While it is a given that we are all given different strengths and vulnerabilities, each of us is left having to play the hand we were given. Dr. Fielding uses evidence based mindfulness interventions to help people negotiate their unique path and achieve the changes they desire in their life.

She is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Los Angeles, an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University, Graduate School of Education and Psychology, and a Supervisor Psychologist at the UCLA Department of Psychology Clinic. She teaches, supervises, and specializes in the Mindfulness-based CBT treatments; the Common Elements approach to bridging the gap between research and practice.

Dr. Fielding has exhaustively studied the Mindfulness-Based CBT treatments and their application for problems with Emotion Dysregulation. From this study, she derived a set of therapist guidelines for evidence-based practice. This study is currently being replicated to validate findings and integrate more recent treatments. Dr. Fielding’s work is further informed by her research experience at UCLA and Harvard. Her research there explored the relationship between health behavior and the psycho-physiological effects of stress on cognition and emotion.
